As the Senior Communications Specialist at PERE/CSII, Gladys leads strategic communications for forward-looking, actionable research that supports community-based organizations, funders, and other stakeholders working towards social, racial, economic and environmental justice. She manages PERE/CSII's communications partnerships, consultants, branding, and media relations.
She started in 2013 as PERE's first communications staffer, bringing expertise in digital media, outreach, design, and content production with social justice community-based nonprofits, educational institutions, and progressive philanthropy. Gladys now leads the Communications Team in building a staff-wide ecosystem that fosters collaborative, creative content production (for websites, the blog, social media, video, and graphic design).
Prior to PERE, she received a fellowship with the Emerging Arts Professionals of the San Francisco Bay Area, where she honed her cultural organizing skills and her passion for arts equity. Gladys' previous roles include positions at: Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP), the National Gender and Equity Campaign, the Partnership for Immigrant Leadership and Action/Mobilize the Immigrant Vote, and a Post-September 11th Education and Outreach Project at the International Institute of NJ, among others. She is an alumna of Boston College where she studied Communications, Fine Art, and Cultural Diversity Issues.
Gladys is also the founder and creative director of a social impact communications consultancy, specializing in strategic and creative services for social sector clients. Currently, she volunteers with disability advocates and healing justice practitioners to build inclusive and intersectional solidarity for collective liberation. She enjoys nerding out on pop culture trends that advance social change, trendspotting, writing, tech, and curating her Spotify playlists.
